The A-frame name comes from the pointed slope of the roofline.
It resembles the capital
letter "A." In our design the framing was made of 22 foot tall
wooden A's put up one at
a time. As they went up we held them in position with the roof
sheathing.
The above picture shows the wooden A's mostly in position. My
brother Dan (left) and
his son Luke are also in this picture. Since we had no fancy
equipment to put the A's up,
Luke was a big help at this point. Luke, thanks for the muscle.
